Study: What Data Can You Extract From Google Maps in 2026?

We often get asked: "What percentage of emails will you find?", "Are phone numbers reliable?", "Does it work in my city?". To answer with real numbers, we ran a massive extraction with ContactEra.

Methodology

We analyzed 9,405 businesses across 10 industries and 10 French cities of varying sizes (from Paris to Colmar). Each query was run at depth 1 (first page of Google Maps results). Email enrichment was performed on the 7,637 businesses that had a website.

Total time: 1h30 for targeting (9,405 results) + 54 min for email enrichment (7,637 sites). About 2h30 from start to final export.

Email Rate by Industry

Email rates vary significantly by industry. Professional services and agencies display their email much more often than local shops.

SecteurEmailPhoneWebsite
Lawyers93%99%88%
Accounting firms92%98%85%
Web agencies90%91%94%
Real estate agencies88%99%95%

Auto repair shops77%97%75%
Hair salons74%98%74%
Bakeries71%90%65%
Dentists57%97%67%

Takeaway: the more "digitalized" a business is (agencies, firms), the more likely they display their email. Local trades (bakeries, salons, dentists) have fewer websites and thus fewer recoverable emails — but their phone number is almost always available (90-99%).

Email Rate by City

City size has an impact, but it remains moderate. Paris leads, with smaller cities close behind.
